In the spring of 2022, my nonprofit was awarded a grant from the state of California to encourage teachers and students to create videos related to wildfire prevention education. Focusing on combining strong academics, active learning with digital media, and the importance of understanding and preparing for wildfires, this grant proposal was not what CAL FIRE usually receives, but captured the imagination of the reviewers, leading to a successful award. In this session, participants will look at what made this proposal a successful one and have the chance to shape ideas for grant proposals of their own.
