Technology- supported STEM learning: Perspectives from research and practice
This session will discuss why (from the research perspective) and how (from the practice perspective) technology can support STEM learning with first-hand knowledge from both STEM educational researchers and practitioners/teachers. It will begin with an overview of the advantages of technology-supported STEM learning drawing from educational technology and STEM educational research, which includes enhanced student motivation in learning as well as enhanced student learning of STEM subject content (Yang & Baldwin, 2020). The presenters will then discuss some practical approaches towards the use of technology to support STEM teaching and learning, such as using technology to provide an authentic learning environment and to create content (Yang & Baldwin, 2020). Additionally, the presenters will discuss teacher professional development on using technology to support STEM learning. Finally, the presenters will demonstrate the use of some most popular technologies such as robotics, drones and microchips that are employed in assisting students in learning STEM. Conference attendees will walk away with not only theoretical but also practical knowledge of technology-supported STEM learning.

Video Stories for Deeper Learning and Strengthened Confidence
When one thinks of simplistic teaching, it often boils down to validating "correct" answers. Using compelling stories from across the world, however, we can enable students to see new possibilities using prompts that seek to transcend the obvious. In this session, we will look at a new and completely free resource allowing teachers to use design thinking principles to have students explore possibilities they had not imagined. In the spring of 2022, my nonprofit was awarded a grant from the state of California to encourage teachers and students to create videos related to wildfire prevention education. Focusing on combining strong academics, active learning with digital media, and the importance of understanding and preparing for wildfires, this grant proposal was not what CAL FIRE usually receives, but captured the imagination of the reviewers, leading to a successful award. In this session, participants will look at what made this proposal a successful one and have the chance to shape ideas for grant proposals of their own.

Safety and Security, where it matters most. Reliable in-building cellular signal for your faculty & students
Poor cellular coverage in your building?
It may not have been a problem in the past but as we race into the future of 5G carrier coverage, that will change.
Whether it is two-factor identification, mass notification, new cellular teaching tools, collaboration, safety, and security; cellular connectivity has become a necessity in many educational facilities.

Passive DAS solutions can alleviate many cellular connectivity issues that educators may experience due to poor in-building cellular coverage.
These solutions can provide amplified cellular coverage to the entire campus or if the need is pinpointed in a specific area.
Best of all, these solutions are cost effective and budget-friendly for any school or educational institution over any of the traditional carrier-coordinated DAS solutions.

Learn about the different in-building solutions and how they can help improve the education and security of your facilities.

Little Things Make You Better
We all know that we can get better. A cool idea here, an adapted technique there, and soon, we're reaching the next student - the one who has been such a challenge. One of the best pieces of teaching is getting kids like that to believe in themselves, so why not try something new that allows you and them to experience something fun, cool, and hopeful? Join in for ideas, techniques, and advice that can make you a little (or a lot) better now.
